PT Barata Indonesia (Persero) received a visit to the Directorate General of Defense Potential (Ditjen Pothan) Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia (Gresik, 27/09/2025).
This visit is not just a ceremonial agenda, but a synergistic step in strengthening the independence of the national defense industry through the active involvement of SOE manufacturing in support of alutsista development programs and strategic equipment.
On the agenda, the group of Ditjen Pothan led by Laksma TNI Dr. Sri Yanto reviews various production facilities of PT Barata Indonesia, from heavy machining workshops, energy component fabrication, to industrial equipment production lines that could potentially be adapted for defense needs.
This review provides a direct overview of Barata Indonesia’s capabilities in engineering, manufacturing technology, and a capable production capacity to support the development of domestic alutsista. Director of PT Barata Indonesia (Persero), Hertyoso Nursasongko said that the company has a commitment to expand its contribution to the defense sector. We are ready to synergize with the Ministry of Defense to support the independence of national allutsista, whether through the development of new products, technology transfer, and improvement of industrial HR capabilities, he said.
The visit ended with a strategic discussion forum discussing the potential for long-term cooperation between PT Barata Indonesia and Ditjen Pothan. Some important points that come up include: Research and innovation collaboration to support the needs of national technology-based alutsista, strengthening the supply chain of defense industry by utilizing domestic manufacturing networks, increasing production capacity to meet medium and long term defense development targets.
This activity is expected to be an important milestone for PT Barata Indonesia in expanding its role in the defense sector, while strengthening the vision of the Ministry of Defense in realizing the independence of the modern, competitive and sustainable national defense industry.
