PT Barata Indonesia (Persero) increasingly shows its existence as a company that has competence in the field of renewable power plants. Tuesday (20/2), Barata Indonesia completed Lodagung Mini Hydro Power Plant (2×650 kW) which is a synergy between Barata Indonesia with Perum Jasa Tirta I
The project adds to the list of renewable energy power plant projects that undertaken by Barata Indonesia. Starting from Walesi Mini Hydro Power Plant (500 kW), Cipayung 4-B (300 kW) Mini Hydro Power Plant , Kayu Aro Mini Hydro Power Plant (950 kW) and Parmonangan Mini Hydro Power Plant which was completed in February 2017.
Last January, Barata Indonesia also nailed a contract to work on Batang Toru 3 Mini Hydro Power Plant (2×5 MW) in North Sumatra.
President Director of Barata Indonesia, Silmy Karim said ” Currently, one of the main focus of Barata Indonesia is renewable energy power plant projects. In addition, renewable energy-based power plants are also still very rare in Indonesia and business opportunity is still high in the country. Barata will continue to develop related technology through cooperation with competent partners, “he said.
Although Barata Indonesia is better known as a manufacturing company, but one of the focus of the business sector is diverted to the power plant business. To support this matter, since last two years, Barata Indonesia has also cooperated with some big names in the world of power plants both domestically and abroad. Such as Siemens, Wartsila etc. This is done to support the competence that has been owned by Barata Indonesia.
Lodagung MHP uses a unique water supply method by utilizing the water discharge found in the Wlingi Dam. So the PLTM which usually use the head (water fall) is high, for Lodagung MHP (2×650 kW) simply use the head with low altitude in producing water debit which is then combined with the use of turbine Kaplan.
The method is expected to be applied even more in Indonesia
