In commemoration of Mother’s Day 2019, PT Barata Indonesia (Persero) held an event titled challenges and the role of women in the context of ‘Millennial Mothers’. Packed in an interactive talkshow that presented the keynote speakers, Wife of Vice Governor of East Java Province, Arumi Bachsin Emil Dardak, and Mother and Family Psychologist, Asteria R. Saroinsong S, Psi. The event was attended by the Wife of Board Directors, Employees and Employees’ Wives Association (IIKK) of PT Barata Indonesia (Persero) as well as representatives of Millennial Mothers

Women in the context of a mother have a strategic role to be able to produce a quality millennial generation. “Being a mother is a learning process that never ends, so we must want to keep learning,” Arumi said. The times are demanding different parenting style so it is important for parents, especially mothers to add insight in order to improve self-quality and as a reinforcement of parenting in the family.

Furthermore, this event also responds to the rapid development of information technology in the millennial era which also influences children’s development. According to Asteria, “This challenge requires parents to provide freedom of expression to children because this can be a process of self-actualization, of course by continuing to carry out understanding as well as supervision until the age of 7 years,” he said.

Dr. Nandia Primadina, Spm appreciated this activity as an effort to improve the quality of women through their primary role as a mother.

“Therefore, participants of this activity should be able to benefit optimally. Make this event to absorb knowledge well as an effort to add insights that will be useful for yourself and your family,” he said.

A close parent and child relationship is the key to a happy family. This bond will determine the child’s personality in the future. Therefore, it is important for parents to recognize the language of love for children because this is very instrumental in the formation of character and optimal growth and development of children
