PT Perkebunan Nusantara IX (PTPN IX) along with Consortium of PT WIJAYA KARYA (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) – PT Barata Indonesia (WIKA-Barata Indonesia) conducted the first stone laying of Engineering Work Procurement Construction and Commisioning Revitalization of Rendeng Sugar Factory owned by PT Perkebunan Nusantara IX in Kudus, Tuesday (22/8)
The groundbreaking ceremony started with the first stone laying on site by PTPN IX President Director Budi Ari Prabowo and witnessed by Kudus Regent Musthofa Wardoyo, President Director of WIKA Bintang Perbowo, PT Barata Indonesia Operations Director Tony Budi Santosa, Representative of Indonesian Farmer Association (APTRI) as well as invited guests.
President Director of PTPN IX, Budi Ari Prabowo in his speech said that the synergy between PTPN IX and WIKA-Barata Consortium of Indonesia in EPCC Revitalization Work of Rendeng Sugar Factory in Kudus, Central Java is a good momentum to strengthen each company’s business as well as encourage industrial development program .
Budi is believed Rendeng Sugar Factroy Revitalization of PTPN IX is one stepping stone in an effort to accomplish National Food Stability.
In addition, the revitalization of those 75 years old Sugar Factory, it will bring economic multiplier effect , and improvement for local sugar farmers in the region Kudus and surrounding areas.
“After the self-sufficiency of rice, the national sugar industry is very likely to become the next contributor to food self-sufficiency,” he said optimistic.
The same belief was also conveyed by the President Director of PT Barata Indonesia Silmy Karim, that the project is a form of good synergy as well as a form of joint efforts to improve local content. “The synergy should continue to be done so that the national industry, especially in the field of sugar is more independent through commitment to the use of high local content,” he said.
For information, in order to support Food Stability Programs and increase sugar production. The Government has made additional State Capital Participation (PMN) into the share capital of PT Perkebunan Nusantara IX, one of which is used to increase the capacity of Rendeng Sugar Factory. Those funds used to increase the capacity of Rendeng Sugar Factory from 2,500 to 4,000 TCD that cost up to 225 billion rupiah.
In addition to supporting Food Stability Programs and increasing sugar production, it is hoped that with the revitalization of Rendeng Sugar Factory can improve the welfare of sugarcane farmers in Rendeng.

Increasing the amount of sugarcane in Rendeng should also be followed by improving the quality of sugar cane in Rendeng Sugar Factroy, “continued Budi Ari Prabowo, President Director of PTPN IX.The WIKA-Barata Indonesia Consortium is awarded as the winner of the EPCC Rendeng Sugar Factory of PTPN IX Revitalization Work Plan based on the administrative, technical, and reasonableness evaluation of the price made by PTPN IX on August 10, 2017.
“We are optimistic that this project can run well and meet the target in a timely and appropriate quality with the collaboration of our best engineers,” said Bintang Perbowo, President Director of WIKA.
