On Tuesday 17 July 2017, PT Barata Indonesia (Persero) received an important visit from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and entourage came directly to Gresik to visit the workshop owned by PT Barata Indonesia (Persero).

The visit is one form of support from the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia to the local industry company. As previously known, the Government expects local industries to play an active role in strategic projects of the government.

“It becomes an opportunity and should be utilized by Barata Indonesia, so that the national industry can go forward,” said Minister Luhut in his speech.

Barata Indonesia itself continues to support strategic programs of the government, and has been appointed to take an active role in the government’s strategic project of 35,000 MW Power Plant.

This has been proven by the appointment of Barata Indonesia as the direct coordinator appointed by the government to oversee local content in the 35,000 megawatt mega project, especially for power plant projects.

Government support is needed so that the percentage of local content in government strategic projects is maintained. Barata Indonesia also appreciated the visit of the Coordinator of Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, which not only as the act of government’s real support for local industry, but also can provide guidance on what the next steps that must be taken by the company  that associated with the project in the future.
